Mae llawer yn cael hi’n anodd deall pam fod Cymdeithas yr Iaith yn targedu’r BBC yn ogystal â’r Llywodraeth yn yr ymgyrch i sicrhau dyfodol i S4C fel sefydliad Cymraeg annibynnol. Dyma i chi felly un rheswm pam. Yn ei lythyr fis Tachwedd mae’n gywir nodi fod Michael Lyons, Cadeirydd Ymddiriedolaeth y BBC wedi dweud wrth S4C fod eu dyfodol fel endid annibynnol yn saff gan iddo ddweud:
The BBC has no ambitions to take over S4C. We are committed to a creatively independent S4C, which attracts revenue from a range of sources, including the licence fee. We share your determination that S4C should retain its strong relationship with the independent production sector in Wales.
